High School Chapels

  • Special Note: the chapel usually starts 2-4 minutes from when the live-stream begins

November 17–Small Groups

Students read from Colossians 1:13-14 & 3:12-14. Some of the discussion revolved around “explain how Christian virtues listed in the passage can make a difference in a tough situation” and “what happens in relationships when there is forgiveness?”.

November 19–Chapel Band & Giving Thanks

The chapel band led in worship with God so Loved, This is Amazing Grace  and Holy Water. Between the songs we read Psalm 100 responsively, watched a video of students offering thanks, and opened up the mic for students in the auditorium to give thanks.

November 18–Thanksgiving Chapel

For the first time this year, we had chapel in the WAC lobby. Students shared their favorite thanksgiving food or activity. Then we invited students in classrooms to join us in the lobby to share what they were thankful for. It was a blessed time as we heard from so many thankful students.

Next Week (after Thanksgiving break):

  • TCHS Tuesday: Small Groups
  • TCMS Wednesday: Mr. Davidson
  • TCHS Thursday: Mr. Lindloff

November 10–Mental Health

Mrs. Piersma, Mrs. Schwarz and Mrs. VanStee led this chapel. They responded to questions such as “how does your Christian faith help you to understand mental health struggles & to deal with these struggles?” and “what are some tips to deal with mental health struggles that lead to healing?”.

November 12–Small Groups

Students watched a short video and read from James 1:19, “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,”. They discussed “when we deal with disagreement (of which there is a lot in our culture!) how should Christians respond?”.

November 11–HS Students lead a chapel focused on Hebrews 10:24

A group of high school students led an engaging chapel that focused on the truths of Hebrews 10:24, one of our theme verses this year. “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,” Thanks to Bethany, Joshua, Luke, Tim, Sarah and Ben!

November 3–Chapel Band

Our student-led chapel band blessed us. Not only was this chapel worshipful, it was one of our best live-streams, featuring two cameras (a big thing for us!). Check out the video. The songs were You Say, Reckless Love, The Blessing and Washed by the Water.

November 5–Student Panel on the Church

Six students shared about their churches. The point was to humbly learn about and from other churches. The churches represented: Greek Orthodox, Black Pentecostal, Traditional Christian Reformed, Mega-church, Anglican, and a diverse church with one of their services in Spanish. Students shared about what is unique about their church, service order and music style/instrumentation. Thanks to Ryan, Emma, James, Elissa, Cameron, and Surya!
