TC Arbor Day, Larry Perez, Chapel Band

A photo from the TCS Arbor Day & Arboretum Celebration

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: LARRY PEREZ. Pastor Larry preached with passion about letting Jesus change you and letting Jesus use you. We also were treated to a “human video” by Master’s Commission, a young adult discipleship/ministry program. Through song and dance we saw how Jesus is a potter who shapes us and gives us true life.

Thursday: CHAPEL BAND. Last chapel band of the year. Thanks to Tyler, Myah, Luke, Grant, Justin (order in the photo below). They led us in singing Let it Rise, O Praise the Name, Who You Say I Am, The Heart of Worship and Jesus Freak.

Small Groups, Good Friday, Sytsma Homeroom, NHS Serve

NHS Service
We served at Feed My Starving Children this past Wednesday

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: SMALL GROUPS: IMITATING. Our small groups began by a mixer activity of coming up with a group hand shake. The Scripture was from Hebrews 13, “Remember your leaders...imitate their faith.” They discussed who they seek to imitate. Then students reflected on the last three chapels and shared how they were challenged by the speakers.

Thursday: GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE. A solemn service of Scripture, song and response. Students read passages from Jesus’ trial and crucifixion. We sang When I Survey the Wondrous Cross. Then students were called to confess sin, write it on a slip of paper, come to the front, throw the paper in the trash and take a small cross (to remind them of Jesus’ sacrifice and the forgiveness of sin). It was a sacred time as we spent over 10 minutes in prayer and confession.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAPEL
Wednesday: SYTSMA HOMEROOM. The opening question was “Do you Believe in God?”. Through a video, students reading Bible passages and Mrs. Sytsma sharing, the chapel concluded with “Jesus’ resurrection from the dead is sure proof that he is who he claimed to be—the risen Son of God, our only hope of salvation”. We were blessed to have Pastor Schuringa lead our singing.

Student Questions, Kohima Daring, Hopek Homeroom

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: TEACHER PANEL. With the use of Google forms, students were invited to ask anonymous questions regarding faith and life to four teachers on our panel. Mr. Snoeyink, Ms. Park, Mr. Adamski and Mrs. Lumkes fielded the questions and shared their wisdom with the students. Some of the questions: "why do you teach at Timothy?", "advice for seniors", "how do you fight against temptation?", "how do you overcome faith struggles?" and "share an embarrassing moment at a teacher".

Thursday: KOHIMA DARING was our speaker. She is the country director for both Bangladesh and India for World Renew, the international relief and justice ministry of the Christian Reformed Church. She spoke of the great hardships of life in Bangladesh and how World Renew is meeting people’s needs in Jesus’ name.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
Wednesday: HOPEK HOMEROOM. Mrs. Hopek’s homeroom led us. Handshakes are used for all kinds of reasons.  Our homebase looked at how a handshake could represent our relationship with Christ.  It is personal and requires both parties to reach out.  Christ reaches out to us in so many ways. Do we seek his grasp?  How do we respond?

NEXT WEEK:
High School Tuesday: small groups; Thursday: special “Good Friday” chapel

Faith CRC Band, Jane Loerop, TCHS Students

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: FAITH CRC WORSHIP BAND led us in worship through song. Pastor Greg led the team of six adults and two TC students. Their beautiful music pointed us to God. Enjoy the short video clip!

Thursday: JANE LOEROP, or as many know her–Aunt Jane, was interviewed by Mr. Mitchell. She told many stories of how God has used her and her family to show hospitality and God’s love with others. Her passion to share Jesus and her compassion for those who hurt made for an inspiring message. And as Aunt Jane said at the beginning: To God be the Glory!

MIDDLE SCHOOL
Wednesday: TCHS STUDENTS were the speakers. Part of the chapel theme verses include the words “since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses”. So each of the ten high school students spoke about a “hero of the faith” that inspired them. Mr. Quist led the singing time. Did you know that he could play the guitar? Mr. Wiener also added a little harmonica as well!
