Weddings, Tree Walks & My Wife

Recently my wife and I had three weddings in three weekends: Decatur, Western Springs, Wheaton. All lovely. The receptions were at a country club, another country club and Cantigny. I love receptions where in addition to the celebration, food, & fellowship, I can also take a tree walk.

At each wedding there was a dance where every couple is invited to the dance floor. Then couples leave the floor according to how many years they have been married: one year of marriage or less take a seat, five years or less take a seat, and so on until the longest married couple is recognized at the end. Over half the couples had left the dance floor when it was announced that only couples married over twenty years remain. As my wife and I (married 21 1/2 years) danced on for the moment, I was filled with gratitude for her and our committed relationship. While we were not close to the longest married couple, still over twenty years seemed like a long time...and a blessed time!

How to Have a Wonderful Day (see 2nd paragraph)

CURRENT TCHS students: Send me a picture of yourself with a cool tree from this summer, and you might win the chance to pick your chapel seat for the upcoming school year. You need to email me (wiener@timothychristian.com) today, tomorrow or Monday.

How to have a wonderful day: the quality of life for a disciple of Jesus is dependent on God's character, not circumstances. You will have a good day if the following verse provides the soundtrack to your thoughts: Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever (Psalm 118:1).
