Small Groups, Michael Wright, DeBoer Homeroom

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: SMALL GROUPS. In the auditorium, we watched the Nativity slide show from December, and the winners received chocolate chip cookies. You can check out the slideshow below. Our small group time was focused on prayer. Some of the discussion points were about prayerful people you know and personal prayer goals.

Thursday: MICHAEL WRIGHT. The featured speaker for our Bridge Builders chapels is Michael Wright, senior pastor of True Freedom Cornerstone Church. He explained how we all make assumptions about people based on our upbringing and what we see. God challenges us to do more. We need to open our hearts to see people full of potential and loved by God, regardless of ethnic background.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
Wednesday: Mrs. DeBoer and her homeroom led chapel. The theme was having courage to live a faithful life before God will lead to true joy. Students read stories of Bible heroes who answered God’s call in their lives. TCHS senior, Alyssa, led our singing.

Prayer, Chapel Band, TCHS Boy's B-ball Team

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: STUDENT ONLY PRAYER TIME. Today was one of our annual chapels that probably does not occur in any other school! For about 15 minutes, the teachers left the auditorium to pray for students in the hallway. Back in the auditorium, it was a student-only prayer chapel. In addition to prayer, students could come to a mic to briefly share a prayer or encouraging word. The chapel began with Lindsay giving us a report on the Chicago Christmas dinner, and then we watched the dinner slide show. Mr. Pelt led us in singing Come to the Altar

Thursday: CHAPEL BAND. The all-junior band led us in singing Here is Love, Mighty to Save, More and Heart of Worship. During the chapel Maggie shared about a “hero of the faith”. The person she picked was Eric Liddel. He was a 1924 Olympic gold medalist in track, outspoken Christian, and missionary in China, where he died at the age of 43. He is featured in the Oscar-winning film, Chariots of Fire.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
Wednesday: TCHS BOYS B-BALL TEAM. The chapel band led us in singing three songs. Then the boys basketball team led the chapel on the theme of Kindness in Christ’s Name. Through an amusing skit, Scripture reading and personal testimonies, the boys engaged us and challenged us in our walk with Jesus.

Mr. Mahadi, Teacher Interviews, Revelation 5

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: Mr. Amir Mahadi spoke. He is the founder & CEO of Joshua Expeditions, the Christian agency that coordinates and leads a number of our RENEW trips. He shared the story of his family leaving Iran, coming to America, and how he came to faith in Jesus Christ. Through his story, Mr. Mahadi emphasized to the students that they are God’s masterpieces and that God can use them in powerful ways.

Thursday: Four women teachers and then four men teachers were interviewed with questions that are similar to when seniors are interviewed for homecoming court. It was a great time to hear teachers share about life and encourage students. Here are some of the questions: What was cool when you were in high school? What would be a group outing that you would enjoy? What has God taught you in the last four years? What advice do you have for seniors?

MIDDLE SCHOOL
Wednesday: A chapel focused on the supremacy of Jesus Christ and what that means for our lives. Four 8th graders did a reading from for Revelation 5. We then watched the video, Is He Worthy. With a giant teddy bear and different coats, I talked about the temptation to treat Jesus as a consumer product or an outfit we just wear for certain occasions. We concluded chapel by singing The Revelation Song. Jesus deserves and calls for our total devotion.
