Mitchell, Songs & Prayer, 1st MS Chapel

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPELS
Tuesday: Our principal, Mr. Mitchell, spoke. His talk focused on our theme verse for the year, Micah 6:8, "...And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." With clarity and conviction, he simply explained what this verse means and how we can apply it to our lives. Watch the whole talk here: Tuesday's Chapel

Thursday: Mr. Davidson opened chapel with encouraging and challenging words from our year's theme verse. Nate and Andrew led us in two songs of worship. We were also blessed by three moms from the Moms in Prayer group that meets every Friday to intercede for the school. Mrs. Venhousen, Mrs. Mattox, Mrs. Stefanik each prayed and then in unison prayed a Scriptural blessing over us. Watch the whole chapel here: Thursday's Chapel

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAPEL
Wednesday: We had a mixer game where each 8th grade homeroom introduced themselves to a 7th grade homeroom. There was one 7th grader in each homeroom with a dollar. The first 8th grader to introduce themselves to that student won the prize. Mr. Lundeen was back with us leading our singing time. Finally Mr. Wiener went through the top 10 list of what every middle schooler needs to know.

First High School Chapel of 2015-16

THURSDAY

After a "mixer activity", two students shared summer testimonies of faith. Ellie shared about how God's Word challenged her this summer. Through meditating on Isaiah 40, she grew in her awe of God's greatness and holiness. Joshua spoke about spending a day at the hospital where his mom works and how he ended up talking to someone about faith in Jesus Christ. The person asked for a Bible and he searched the hospital to find one for her (he found free Bibles at the chapel).

Mr. Wiener showed some tree pictures (of course). He made the point that flourishing trees are well rooted. He challenged students to focus on roots based on Jesus Christ, not roots based on feelings. Jesus is the strong foundation for our lives!

We ended with prayer. Alex played the piano while we prayed silently, and Mr. Wiener concluded the chapel with a prayer of blessing on the new school year.
