Mr. Lindloff, Chapel Band, Mr. Schutte

See You At the Pole prayertime on Wednesday before school!

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: Mr. Lindloff, teacher of Bible and English, spoke. He focused on the context of our theme verses this year: Colossians 2:6-7. The Aposlte Paul was confronting false teaching in the church and making a call to root one’s life in Jesus Christ alone. Mr. Lindloff spoke about a variety of “false teachings” in our culture. As Christians, we must be aware of the messages our culture preaches at us and continue to stand strong in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thursday: Our student chapel band led us in worship for the first time this year. We sang Mighty to Save, Revelation Song and This We Know. Mr. Wiener also encouraged everyone to worship from their heart. He shared a story about a woman, who worshiped wholeheartedly, that he happened to sit next to in church this summer.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAPEL
Friday: Mr. Schutte shared with the students a message from his heart. Mr. Lundeen led in singing. (I was not at the MS chapel this week, so perhaps I’ll share more next week about it)

NEXT WEEK:
High School Tuesday: in the new gym w/ Mr. Davidson Thursday: Homecoming interviews

Small Groups & with the 1st Graders

Sorry for no photos this week from chapel. Lots going on, especially with OctoberQuest!

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: First small group chapel of the year. Small groups meet once a month. Today was an introduction. Students discussed the theme verses, Colossians 2:6-7. Groups also participated in a “contest”. Each group wrote their names in a creative way on paper and took a photo of it. We will see the “art” from each group in a couple weeks.

Thursday: The first graders joined us. We sang fun songs together. Mr. Wiener shared a story using the OctoberQuest set. The theme of the story? Our quest is from Jesus. When others are blessed, that is the best quest! The first graders then shared Colossians 2:6-7 and prayed the Lord's Prayer.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAPEL
Friday: There is a new middle school building and a new middle school schedule. Our chapels are now on Friday afternoon. Today we had small groups. Students split up by grade and birth month. The main thing they discussed was how to grow their roots deeper in Jesus. Then one person from each group came to the stage and shared their best idea.

NEXT WEEK:
High School Tuesday: Mr. Lindloff; Thursday: Chapel Band

Thankfulness, Tennis, TCMS Summer Share

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: The theme was thankfulness. We began by asking students what they complained about. Then we watched an 8 minute video entitled Gratitude from the film series Ed’s Story (see video clip below). We ended chapel with Yanni, Anna & Anna leading us in singing What a Beautiful Name. Many were deeply touched by this chapel!

Thursday: Mr. Wiener spoke on “Tennis Lessons”. I explained a little bit about tennis with help from skillful TC tennis players Aby & Cassie. Then I shared a devotional that came to me when I was playing tennis with Ellie this summer. Below see some photos of his granddad and the main points of the talk.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: After singing we saw a slideshow of over 50 photos submitted by the middle school students on their summer. Then students were invited to come to the stage to share a spiritual highlight of the summer. It was a blessed time to hear from about 25 students of how God worked in their lives this summer.
