Tim Shoemaker & Student Praise Songs

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: Today for both middle and high school chapels we had Tim Shoemaker, an author and speaker. He warned against being a "compromising Christian" and encouraged us to be completely devoted to Jesus. His talk involved a number of volunteers, object lessons, and even a science experiment! If you are interested in learning more about Tim's ministry, check out his website: http://www.timshoemakersmashedtomatoes.com. To watch the chapel CLICK HERE

Thursday: Mr. Pelt's Contemporary Musicianship class led our chapel. One of the class projects was to select a Scripture passage and write a praise song based on the passage. The class presented five of the students' songs. What a great chapel! To watch the chapel CLICK HERE

Saint-Vil, Small Groups, Middle School Hymn Sing

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL

Tuesday: Charles Saint-Vil shared with us his life story. Born in Haiti, he was orphaned at age 7. He came to the U.S. in his late teens. Fast forward to today...he has committed his life to Jesus Christ and is a civil engineer with a masters degree. God has called him to bless children in Haiti, so be began the Light Up Our Youth Foundationhttp://luoyfoundation.org

Thursday: Small Group Chapel today. The groups scattered throughout the school to read 1 Peter 1:3-4 and to discuss "what was a highlight in corporate worship for you in the last two weeks, thinking of special TC chapels, church services, youth events?" and "how is God calling you to respond to Jesus' death and resurrection?"

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAPEL
Wednesday: Mr. VanderBill's Homeroom sponsored a good old fashioned hymn sing. Lombard CRC's worship leader, Joel Jupp, played piano. We sang Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, Holy, Holy, Holy, A Mighty Fortress, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross and Be Thou My Vision.

Holy Week Chapels

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: Lots of student involvement in today's chapel. After Matt F. led the opening prayer, Ariana and Mr. Pelt led us in singing. Then we watched a 5 minute video put together by Olivia H., Josh and Emily. They interviewed people in downtown Elmhurst about their views on Easter. Josh and Andy shared their perspective on the importance of Easter. Olivia S. then led us in a responsive reading focusing on the cross of Christ.  To watch the chapel CLICK HERE

Thursday: Our “Good Friday” prayer chapel. Tommy read the crucifixion story from Luke 23. We all sang When I Survey the Wondrous Cross. Then Mrs. Lanenga sang O, Sacred Head Now Wounded. Our prayer time involved coming to the front and writing our sin on a piece of paper. After a time of confession, students attached the paper to a cross that was full of nails. While we prayed Mrs. Fox played the piano and Mary S. played the cello.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAPEL
Wednesday: The middle school also had a “Good Friday” prayer chapel. Words cannot explain the beauty of the sacred prayer time as middle school students spent time confessing sin and committing to Jesus. In addition, we sang In Christ Alone and How Deep the Father’s Love for Us.

Mr. Mitchell, Chapel Band, Fernandes' Homeroom

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: Mr. Mitchell spoke about money and treasure. After giving us some interesting trivia facts about money and teen influence on spending in America, he gave us the challenge to be givers and to start now in life to tithe (or give even more!). But ultimately, we should give because God first gave to us. Jesus is an amazing grace gift to us. God sees us as his treasure. To watch the chapel CLICK HERE

Thursday: The chapel band led us in worship. We sang Prince of Peace (You are Holy), Lay Me Down, 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord) and Great are You Lord (It's your breath in our lungs)
