HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: In what has become a yearly tradition, Oliver Hersey, former TC math teacher, spoke. He is currently working on a doctorate in Old Testament. His message began by helping us understand how statues of kings functioned in the ancient world. He used this idea to help us understand how we are created in God's image. How do we represent God in the world? How does "image of God" affect our relationships? Mr. Hersey offered a strong challenge to consider how we treat others different from us.
Thursday: We had our monthly student-led small groups. The focus was on "standing firm". We read the Bible passages that Mr. Wiener highlighted in his talks at the beginning of February. Some questions asked in the groups: what are threats that hinder us from standing firm? And what can we do or stop doing to help us stand firm in our faith?
MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAPEL
Mrs. Sytsma's homeroom led us in a special Ash Wednesday chapel. It was an interactive chapel that emphasized the importance of confession and surrender to Jesus. It included a student-made video and student readings on the subject of Lent. Our time of confession was spiritually powerful!

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: Alyssa (Van Staalduinen) Sianghio, TC class of 2006, spoke. By sharing her journey of seeking God's will in high school, in college and after, Alyssa told us how God led her to work/serve at the Lawndale Health Clinic in Chicago. God has placed on her heart a desire to work for justice in this broken world. Micah 6:8 says, "And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." She emphasized that justice is not a career or job title, it is something we should be practicing every day, whatever we do.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAPEL
Justin Rink, TC class of 2013, spoke. He is currently a pre-sem major at Concordia in River Forest. The theme of Justin's talk was "He knows". God knows everything about us. Our great and glorious God knows each of us by name and understands what is going on in our lives. He desires a close relationship with us. What more could we ask for?

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: The chapel focused on the theme of Standing Firm, using Jesus parable of the house on rock & sand (Matt. 7:24-27). Mr. Wiener narrated the story as students acted it out. Two girls were the builders and three guys forming a pyramid were the houses. Then we had two girls as the wind and two as the water. All the students provided the thunderstorm by clapping and stomping feet. Mr. W. spoke about having Jesus be our rock and not self (feelings, romance, creating own moral standards). Mr. Pelt led us in singing the hymn, Solid Rock. Kohl shared a story of a persecuted Christian who is standing firm in the faith.

Thursday: After a PowerPoint on December's Humboldt dinner, we again focused on the theme Standing Firm. Mr. Wiener gave a mini-sermon on 1 Corinthians 15:58. It included threats to standing firm in our culture. We ended chapel with a prayer time, thinking about how God is calling us to stand firm.
MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAPEL
Timothy high school students shared about their RENEW trips and how God worked in their lives. Jared, Rob, Allison, Matthew, Danielle and Charles all gave wonderful testimonies of the Lord moving in them and others on these trips. We also saw videos and a slideshow of the trips to California, Honduras and Ireland.

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: We spent time learning about and praying for the persecuted church. Our prayers focused on the churches in Syria, Iran and Egypt. May God give all of us an increasing burden for our brothers and sisters around the world that suffer because of their commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ. Below is a stirring music video that challenges us to remember the persecuted church and to count the cost of discipleship.
MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Thursday: Mrs. Adams' husband, Vinnie, and his band came to lead us in worship. They led both the middle school and high school chapels. What a blessing it is to gather together regularly for worship. During the middle school chapel, Mrs. Adams' homebase led with prayer and Scripture readings. Enjoy the video!

HIGH SCHOOL CHAPEL
Tuesday: Former TC Bible teacher, Jeff Klein, spoke. What does it mean to follow Jesus? He answered this question by explaining Mark 3:13-15. With his engaging speaking style, Klein challenged us to seriously follow Jesus, speak about Jesus to others and stand firm in the faith.
Thursday: Students (and Mr. LeGrand) from three RENEW trips shared testimonies of how God worked in their lives. The stories gave evidence of how powerfully God worked in and through students on these trips. To God be the glory! We heard from the Ireland, California and Honduras trips.
MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAPEL
Josh Pardee, youth pastor at Hinsdale Chapel, spoke. He talked about making the most of your life for the Lord. We should not compare ourselves to others or complain. God has made each of us unique and wants to use us for his work.

Middle School Chapel
We began with a good old-fashioned Christmas Carol sing. Then students were invited to share their favorite family Christmas traditions. Many of these traditions involved food! We closed chapel with Mr. Lundeen reading The Story of the Christmas Guest as retold by Helen Steiner Rice, A beautiful story involving Christmas and serving Jesus by serving those in need.
